The semi-finals are here as the U.S. Open reaches Day 12, and once again it appears the first and second seeds are on a collision course in the women’s draw.

Serena Williams coasted to a quarter final victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win over No.18 seed Carla Suarez Navarro. Her semifinal match will be considerably more difficult against No. 5 seed Na Li. It took Li three sets to advance and she will hope for an upset. This is going to be near-impossible, however. Williams looks stronger as the Open continues and her stroke play is perfect in dealing with the swirling wind experienced at Flushing Meadows.

Life is much easier for No. 2 seed Victoria Azarenka. She is poised to face unseeded Flavia Pennetta, who is ranked 55th in the world. Pennetta’s unlikely run is set to end, as Azarenka has dispatched numerous low-ranked opponents thanks to a favorable draw.

Coverage of the mixed-doubles finals and women’s semi-finals begin at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS, running through 6 p.m. Streaming is available through U.S. Open Live, and U.S. Open Radio is available for those who want to listen.
