U.S. Open 2013 results: Serena Williams advances to women’s final
The women’s U.S. Open final is set and Serena Williams will play for her fifth title.

Williams got off to a good start with a 6-0 win in the first set. While Williams was able to avoid issues in the first set with no double faults and nine unforced errors, Li struggled early with three double faults. Li was able to put up more of a fight in the second set, but it wasn’t enough as Williams went on to win 6-3 to take the match and advance to the final.
The match was just the latest in a string of dominating performances from Williams during the U.S. Open. She won all six of her matches in straight sets, and only Sloane Stephens won more than three games during a set. Of the 12 sets she’s played, Williams won eight by a 6-0 or 6-1 margin.
She advances to the women’s singles final for the third straight year and will face Azarenka in a rematch of last year’s final, when Williams defeated Azarenka, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5, to win her fourth U.S. Open title. The two top-seeded players will meet for this year’s title on Sunday.
