French Open 2014: TV schedule and matches for Sunday at Roland Garros

The 2014 French Open gets underway on Sunday in Paris with the start of the first round.

The second tennis Grand Slam event of the year arrives with the 2014 French Open set to begin at Roland Garros on Sunday. With the start of the first round, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams will officially begin their respective defenses of last year’s titles. Both players will attempt to repeat as champion starting from the top, as they are the No. 1 seeds in the men’s and women’s draws.

Williams will headline the women’s singles action on Sunday when she takes on Alize Lim in the first round. No. 3 seed Agnieszka Radwanska and No. 8 seed Angelique Kerber will also be in action on Sunday. Radwanska will face Shuai Zhang, while Kerber will play against Katarzyna Piter. Nadal won’t be in action on Sunday, with No. 4 Roger Federer the highest-seeded player on the schedule. No. 6 Thomas Berdych, No. 8 Milos Raonic and No. 10 John Isner will also take to the court.

While the time difference will make for an early morning for viewers in the United States, there will be extensive television and online coverage from ESPN2, ESPN3, NBC and the Tennis Channel. Play on Sunday is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. local time in Paris with ESPN2 opening television coverage at 5 a.m. ET. The broadcast will run until 10 a.m. ET with additional coverage online on ESPN3. The online streaming service will provide multiple streams beginning at 5 a.m. ET, including streams dedicated to Court 1, Court 2 and Court 7. ESPN2 and ESPN3 will combine to provide nearly 400 hours of live coverage.

Tennis Channel will begin its coverage at 10 a.m. ET with the broadcast continuing until 7 p.m. ET. NBC will have live coverage from noon to 3 p.m. ET.
