French Open 2014: TV schedule and matches for Thursday at Roland Garros

The second round of the French Open will continue on Thursday with Rafael Nadal among the players scheduled to be in action.

The start of the 2014 French Open has been full of upsets with several top seeds taking early exits. No. 1 women’s seed Serena Williams lost in the second round while No. 2 seed Na Li also went out early. The second round will continue on Thursday and a few top seeds will be in action, attempting to avoid similar early exits.

No. 1 seed Rafael Nadal will be back on the court when he faces Dominic Thiem. Nadal cruised through the first round, winning 6-0, 6-3, 6-0. He is one of five men ranked in the top 15 scheduled to play on Thursday. No. 5 David Ferrer, No. 7 Andy Murray, No. 12 Richard Gasquet and No. 14 Fabio Fognini will also play their second-round matches. Of the five, Murray had the most trouble in the first round, dropping a set to Andrey Golubev before eventually winning 6-1, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Six top-15 seeds will play on the women’s side with No. 4 Simona Halep the highest-seed scheduled to play. No. 5 Petra Kvitova, No. 6 Jelena Jankovic, No. 10 Sara Errani and No. 11 Ana Ivanovic are among the other notable names attempting to move on to the third round. No. 15 Sloane Stephens -- the top American left in the women’s draw -- will face Polona Hercog in the second round. Stephens had some issues in her first match, eventually prevailing 6-4, 7-6 (10-8) against Shuai Peng.

ESPN2 and Tennis Channel will combine for television coverage. ESPN2’s broadcast will begin at 5 a.m. ET with live coverage continuing until 10 a.m. Tennis Channel will handle the afternoon coverage with its broadcast set to run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Both networks will offer online streams with multiple streams available from ESPN3 and Tennis Channel Plus.
