Wimbledon 2014: Time, TV schedule, live streaming for Thursday’s matches

Men’s singles takes a break while women’s singles battles through the semifinals.

Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

Thanks to some big upsets, there will be some familiar names missing from the women’s singles semifinals at Wimbledon on Thursday. Gone are previous champions Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova, both of whom exited by the fourth round.

Taking their place are up-and-coming prospects like Simona Halep, the three-seeded Romanian, and Eugenie Bouchard, the 13th-seeded Canadian. Those two will face off for a chance to move on to the championship after picking up wins on Wednesday. Bouchard upset No. 9 Angelique Kerber in straights sets, while Halep dispatched No. 19 Sabine Lisicki.

The other side of the finals will be determined between a pair of Czechs: Petra Kvitova and Lucie Safarova. Kvitova has won in Wimbledon once before in 2011. Safarova had never advanced past the third round before this year.

Men’s singles takes a one-day break, with play resuming with semifinals on Friday.
