Wimbledon 2014: Time, TV schedule, live streaming for Friday’s matches
Novak Djokovic, Grigor Dimitrov, Roger Federer and Milos Raonic will all be in action for the men’s semifinals on Friday.
Only four men remain in the singles bracket at Wimbledon, and after Friday, that number will be down to two. Both semifinal matches will be on Centre Court on Friday, and both promise to be plenty exciting, though the bracket looks a lot different than most expected it would when this tournament got underway.
The first match of the day will put tournament favorite and No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic up against No. 11 Grigor Dimitrov. No. 4 Roger Federer will take on No. 8 Milos Raonic on the same court following that matchup.
Djokovic and Dimitrov is a very compelling matchup, given Dimitrov is playing the best tennis of his career to this point. This is the first time he’s made it to the semifinal, as he’d never even made it past the second round at Wimbledon. But his inexperience shouldn’t bring upon a lack of confidence given the names he’s beaten thus far.
Dimitrov took down No. 21 seed Alexandr Dolgopolov and unseeded Leonardo Mayer in the third and fourth rounds before a huge test in the quarterfinals: men’s No. 3 seed Andy Murray. Dimitrov dominated Murray without much issue, winning in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6(4), 6-2. On the flip-side, Djokovic has looked solid, but struggled in his quarterfinal matchup against No. 26 seed Marin Cilic. Djokovic wound up winning, but it took all five sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-7, 6-2, 6-2.
Raonic beat a few big names on his way to taking on Federer, as well. In the fourth round, he took down No. 10 seed Kei Nishikori in four sets, but faced a different test in the quarterfinals: unseeded Nick Kyrgios. It was a tough test, given that Kyrgios had just eliminated No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal in four sets, but Raonic handled him in as many, winning 6-7, 6-2, 6-4, 7-6(4). Federer, meanwhile, took down No. 5 seed Stan Wawrinka in the quarterfinals, and has looked solid all tournament.
Television coverage will be on ESPN’s flagship network, and it will begin at 8 a.m. ET. That coverage will run through 2 p.m. officially. Streaming can be had at WatchESPN or the official Wimbledon website.
