The field is beginning to narrow at the 2014 U.S. Open and following play on Tuesday, the men’s singles will move on to the quarterfinals while only six women will remain in contention for the women’s singles title. Seven of the eight men playing are seeded, including No. 2 Roger Federer.

Federer will face No. 17 Roberto Bautista Agut with a berth in the quarterfinals on the line. The two will play in the fourth match at Arthur Ashe Stadium which will slot the match into the early evening. The men’s singles will begin with a match between No. 14 Marin Cilic and No. 26 Gilles Simon. The winner of that match will advance to a quarterfinal match against either No. 6 Tomas Berdych or Dominic Thiem. Thiem is the only unseeded player left in the men’s draw.

The match of the day may be the contest between No. 7 Grigor Dimitrov and No. 20 Gael Monfils. The 28-year-old Monfils has been impressive thus far and won all three of his matches in straight sets. Dimitrov had a more difficult road to the Round of 16. He dropped the first set of his last match 0-6, before rebounding to win the next three.

The women’s quarterfinals will begin with two very contrasting matches. No. 10 Caroline Wozniacki, fresh off her upset against Maria Sharapova, will face No. 13 Sara Errani. Both players have been in good form during the tournament. Their match will be the final of Day 9. In the other quarterfinal, Belinda Bencic will face Peng Shuai in a match of unseeded players. Shuai upset No. 4 Agnieszka Radwanska in the second round and has yet to drop a set. Bencic upset a pair of top-10 seeds to get this far. She beat No. 6 Angelique Kerber in the third round and No. 9 Jelena Jankovic in the Round of 16.

ESPN will broadcast the bulk of Day 9 with Tennis Channel adding in supplemental coverage. Here is a complete look at the match schedule and television and online coverage. All times Eastern.
