Andy Murray and Maria Sharapova were victorious, while high seeds Feliciano Lopez and Agnieszka Radwanska were bounced out in the first round at the French Open on Monday.

We’re another day down at the 2015 French Open and for the most part, the top seeds in action survived intact. Men’s No. 3 seed Andy Murray managed an uneventful win in his opening match against unseeded Facundo Arguello, winning 6-3, 6-3, 6-1. Women’s No. 2 seed Maria Sharapova was also victorious, downing Kaia Kanepi in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.

Other top seeds like Tomas Berdych, Gilles Simon, Carla Suarez Navarro and Angelique Kerber all won their matches without incident. Simon did drop the opening set to Lucas Pouille, but he dominated the following three sets en route to a comfortable victory, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.

In the world of upsets, one of the higher seeds on the men’s side fell on Monday -- No. 11 Feliciano Lopez. He was taken down by unseeded Teymuraz Gabashvili, falling in three sets. Gabashvili was in control from the beginning, getting the most resistance in the second set while comfortably taking the other two, 6-3, 7-6(9), 6-3.

There were a couple minor upsets on the women’s side, as No. 14 Agnieszka Radwanska was handed just her third career first-round loss at a Grand Slam, falling to Annika Beck. Beck took the match in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. No. 15 Venus Williams also lost on the day, as Sloane Stephens cruised to a straight-set victory, 7-6(5), 6-1.

The top seeds in the bracket -- Serena Williams for the women and Novak Djokovic for the men -- will be in action on Tuesday. You can find full results for Monday’s action at the official Roland Garros website, and below we’ve listed out the results for some of the top matches.
