French Open results 2015: Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal head into 4th round

A potential quarterfinals matchup between top seed Novak Djokovic and tournament favorite Rafael Nadal is still on track after both were victorious on Saturday.

Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

Both No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic and tournament favorite Rafael Nadal continue to steamroll their competition at the 2015 French Open. Djokovic, who has never won a title at Roland Garros, easily dispatched unseeded opponent Thanasi Kokkinakis, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday, pushing himself into the fourth round, ever closer to a potential quarterfinals matchup with the aforementioned Nadal.

Nadal is the tournament’s sixth seed, but he’s into the fourth round after downing unseeded opponent Andrey Kuznetsov, 6-1, 6-3, 6-2. Nadal has now won 38 consecutive matches at the French Open. Despite the fact that he’s not one of the top five seeds and despite the fact that his play was spotty coming into this year’s tournament, Nadal is the obvious favorite given his dominance on the clay at Roland Garros.

Djokovic has a tough fourth-round matchup on his hands with No. 20 seed Richard Gasquet looming, while Nadal will faced unseeded American Jack Sock. He’s not an easy go by any means, and both men have plenty to do before they can face off in the quarterfinals.

Women’s No. 4 seed Petra Kvitova was victorious in the first match of the day, bringing down No. 30 seed Irina-Camelia Begu, 6-3, 6-2. There some minor upsets on that side of the bracket as well, with No. 17 seed Sara Errani bestin No. 10 seed Andrea Petkovic, 6-3, 6-3 and No. 23 seed Timea Bacsinszky besting No. 16 Madison Keys, 6-4, 6-2.

We’ve got the important results from the singles brackets below, but you can find full results at the Roland Garros website.
