French Open 2015: Matches and TV schedule for Day 8 at Roland Garros

Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova highlight the opening of Round 4 at the French Open on Sunday.

Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

The fourth round at the 2015 French Open is set to get underway on Sunday. Roger Federer, Tomas Berdych and Maria Sharapova are among those who will be playing. Federer, the No. 2 seed on the men’s side, has been playing excellent tennis of late and his quest for a second title at Roland Garros is going well.

But this is where things start getting much more difficult. Federer’s fourth-round opponent is 13th-seeded Frenchman Gael Monfils. That should be one of the more exciting matches of this year’s tournament, and it will be the third match of the day on Philippe-Chatrier Court. Another big match will be featured on that court, just before Federer’s: the showdown between No. 4 Berdych and No. 14 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

The possibility of a local winning the French Open is still there with both Monfils and Tsonga in action, though Federer and Berdych will be favored in those matches. Sharapova will be facing No. 13 seed Lucie Safarova on Suzanne-Lenglen Court, while other top names like Gilles Simon (another Frenchman), Stan Wawrinka, Kei Nishikori and Ana Ivanovic will also be in action.

Television coverage of the day's action gets underway at 5 a.m. ET on the Tennis Channel. That coverage will run through 1 p.m. NBC will have its own coverage which overlaps with that one by an hour, running from noon through 3 p.m. You can find online streams at the Tennis Channel's premium service or on NBC Sports Live Extra when their coverage gets underway at noon. Below, we've listed some of the important matchups and you can find the full schedule at the Roland Garros website here.
