Men’s No. 1 player and defending champion Novak Djokovic holds the top seed for this year’s Wimbledon. Djokovic is at the top of the men’s draw, coming in three spots above the man who bested him in the last grand slam finals at Roland Garros, Stan Wawrinka. It was a phenomenal tournament for both men, and for the rest of the field that made it far, including Roger Federer, Andy Murray and even Rafael Nadal.
Wimbledon draw 2015 announced: Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal could meet in quarterfinals
The 2015 Wimbledon draw was announced on Friday, and there’s a lot of potential for early exits for the tournament’s top seeds.

Nadal obviously didn’t make it as far as he’d like, or as far as many expected. Despite going into that tournament as the No. 6 seed and following a string of poor showings prior to the French Open, Nadal was the man to beat given his history on the clay of Roland Garros. He wound up going out in the quarterfinals, losing to Djokovic. That was a huge moment for Djokovic, which Wawrinka promptly spoiled in the finals.
Now, Nadal is the tournament’s No. 10 seed, which invites the possibility of another early exit. Federer, Murray, Kei Nishikori, Tomas Berdych, Milos Raonic, David Ferrer and Marin Cilic all come in seeded above Nadal.
There’s more potential for massive quarterfinal matchups this tournament, as well. Murray and Nadal were drawn in the same quarter, meaning they can meet there. With a potential of seeing Federer in the semifinals and Djokovic in the finals given they were drawn on opposite ends, the path to another title is perhaps most difficult for Murray. There’s even potential for facing Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the fourth round.
On the women’s side, there should be no surprise that Serena Williams is at the top of the draw. Coming in at second is Petra Kvitova, who was the No. 4 seed at Roland Garros and who lost in the fourth round to Timea Bacsinszky. She made it to the semifinals where she lost to Serena. The other woman to make it to the finals, Lucie Safarova, is the No. 6 seed, behind Williams, Kvitova, Simona Halep, Maria Sharapova and Caroline Wozniacki, in that order.
Williams could face her sister, Venus Williams, in the fourth round and is also in the same half as Sharapova. Williams is going for her sixth title at Wimbledon and her 21st ever Grand Slam.
