French Open 2015: TV schedule and matches for Friday at Roland Garros

Novak Djokovic will face Andy Murray and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will take on Stan Wawrinka in the men’s semifinals at Roland Garros on Friday.

We’re nearing the end of the 2015 French Open, with the women’s singles field narrowed to two and the men’s down to four. The semifinals for the latter group will get underway on Friday, and they should be every bit as exciting as the stacked quarterfinals.

Friday will feature matchups between top seed Novak Djokovic and No. 3 seed Andy Murray, and No. 8 seed Stan Wawrinka against No. 14 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Djokovic is coming off a dominant victory over No. 6 seed Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals. That’s a huge, massive step that cannot be overstated at this stage. Sure, Nadal was not playing his best coming into Roland Garros, but his performance outside of that court’s clay has always been irrelevant once he got on it. He’s called the King of Clay for a reason, and Roland Garros is his domain’s capitol.

But Djokovic took him down in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3, 6-1, as he looks to earn his first ever title at the French Open. He’ll have his hands full against Murray, who took four sets to down No. 7 seed David Ferrer in the quarterfinals. Murray also needed four sets to down unseeded Jeremy Chardy in the fourth round.

But before those two square off on Philippe-Chatrier Court, Tsonga and Wawrinka will be facing off. Tsonga will be trying to become the first Frenchman to reach the final at Roland Garros since Henri Leconte in 1988. Tsonga almost didn’t make it this far, though, needing all five sets to best No. 5 seed Kei Nishikori in the semifinals. Wawrinka, on the other hand, had potentially the most-impressive win of the tournament by dominating No. 2 seed Roger Federer in straight sets.

The semifinal matches will be broadcast on both the Tennis Channel and NBC on Friday. The Tennis Channel’s coverage gets underway at 7 a.m. ET and runs through 11 a.m., at which point NBC will have coverage. Online streaming can be found at the Tennis Channel’s website and NBC Sports Live Extra.
