US Open 2015: Schedule, TV coverage and live streaming for Day 1

Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic will both take the court for the opening day of the U.S. Open on Monday.

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Both Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams, the No. 1 players in the world for their respective brackets, will be in action for the first day of the 2015 U.S. Open. The final Grand Slam tournament of the season will start Monday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows.

Djokovic has been dominant this season, winning both the Australian Open and Wimbledon, and he shouldn’t struggle with his first-round unseeded opponent, Joao Souza. Williams, who has won the Australian Open and Wimbledon much like Djokovic, also took home the crown in the French Open and has her sights set on being the first woman to win all four Grand Slams in a single season since Steffi Graf did it in 1988.

Winning here would also tie Williams with Graf in all-time Grand Slam titles at 22. But first she’s got to get there, and she cannot overlook her first-round unseeded opponent, Vitalia Diatchenko.

The opening day will also see Venus Williams, Serena’s sister and No. 23 seed for the tournament, up against Monica Puig. Starting the day at Arthur Ashe Stadium will be women’s No. 7 seed Ana Ivanovic up against Dominika Cibulkova. Djokovic and both Williams matches will also be on that court, as well as a match between Rafael Nadal, the tournament’s eighth seed, and Borna Coric.

Defending champion and No. 9 seed Marin Cilic will face Guido Pella, while last year’s runner up, Kei Nishikori, will take on Benoit Paire. Nishikori is having an excellent season and is the No. 4 seed for the tournament.

Television coverage of Monday’s matches will be broadcast on ESPN from 1 p.m. ET to 6 p.m. and on ESPN from 6 p.m. through 11 p.m. There will be a live stream available beginning at 11 a.m. on WatchESPN.
