US Open 2015: Time, TV schedule and live stream for Day 13

Serena Williams is out, and the women’s final between Roberta Vinci and Flavia Pennetta is set for Saturday. Here’s how you can watch it.

The penultimate day of the 2015 US Open is here, and with it comes the women’s singles final. Said final features two very unexpected players in unseeded Roberta Vinci and No. 26 seed Flavia Pennetta. On Friday, the pair dispatched top seed Serena Williams in one of the biggest upsets in recent memory and No. 2 seed Simona Halep, respectively.

Vinci took down Williams in three sets, dropping the first set and winning the next two, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. It was a close match, and one that Williams looked in control of at times but completely lost in at others. Williams’ power was too much for Vinci early, but the world No. 1 started making mistakes, and Vinci capitalized with perfect shot placement time and time again to deny Williams her 22nd Grand Slam and a Calendar Grand Slam.

Pennetta dominated Halep from start to finish, taking the first set at 6-1 and cruising to a relatively easy victory in the second at 6-3. Everyone expected we’d be seeing a Williams vs. Halep/No. 1 vs. No. 2 final on Saturday, but instead it’s Vinci and Pennetta, which is a good match regardless.

That match will take place on Arthur Ashe Stadium’s court, beginning at 3 p.m., unless the men’s doubles final runs long. That final features Jamie Murray and John Peers up against Pierre-Hugues Herbet and Nicolas Mahut. Television coverage of the day’s matches will be carried by ESPN, though that only covers the women’s final. For the doubles final, there will be a live stream available at WatchESPN, beginning at noon.

Sunday is the final day of the tournament, and will feature the men’s final.
