US Open 2015: Schedule, TV coverage and live streaming for Day 9

Tuesday’s quarterfinals features another chapter in the Serena Williams vs. Venus Williams saga.

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

Day 9 of the US Open is here, and with it comes the start of the quarterfinals. Tuesday’s matches should provide the most entertaining day of tennis at this year’s tournament yet, with top seed Serena Williams set to play her sister, No. 23 seed Venus Williams. On the men’s side, top seed Novak Djokovic is set to face off with No. 18 Feliciano Lopez.

The Williams sisters have faced each other 26 times over the course of their careers, and four times at the US Open. Serena holds the edge in the historical matchup with a 15-11 record against Venus, though Venus did perform better earlier in their “rivalry.” Serena is 6-1 in the last seven matches. The last time they played each other at the US Open was 2008, when Serena beat Venus in the quarterfinals. They’re 2-2 against each other in the tournament, including each beating the other once in the final.

Djokovic should have his hands full with Lopez, though he hasn’t had much trouble with him historically. Djokovic has won all five of his matches against Lopez, with the last coming in 2012. Still, Lopez looked great beating No. 32 seed Fabio Fognini in his Round of 16 match, while Djokovic needed four sets to down No. 23 seed Roberto Bautista Agut.

Defending men’s champion Marin Cilic will also be in action against No. 19 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and unseeded women Kristina Mladenovic and Roberta Vinci will face off in quarterfinal action as well on Tuesday.

Television coverage of the day’s matches begin at noon ET, and will be broadcast on ESPN through 11 p.m. A live stream of the matches will also be available at WatchESPN. Below, we’ve got the singles matches listed, with a full schedule of events here.
