The 2016 French Open has seen some interesting twists and turns through its first week, starting before the tournament even got underway when we found that Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova wouldn’t be participating. The former withdrew due to injury and the latter is serving a suspension due to a positive drug test.
How to watch French Open Week 2 online
Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams are still in the tournament as the second week and fourth round of play is set to begin.

Now into the fourth round of the tournament, we’ve also seen early exits for men’s No. 4 seed Rafael Nadal, the man with nine titles on the clay of Roland Garros over the years, and No. 6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the best hope for a French champion on the men’s side.
Nadal withdrew with a wrist injury before his third-round matchup, while Tsonga withdrew while leading his third-round match in the first set. While Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka and Kei Nishikori are among the men still in play, Novak Djokovic now has a much easier road to his first title at Roland Garros. He’s taken every other Grand Slam but has never won on the clay of the French Open.
On the women’s side, Serena Williams was always expected to be unchecked. She’s the most dominant tennis player in the world, and discussion on whether or not she will win usually hinges on her ability to play mistake-free and less on the actual competition she’ll be facing. Calling Agnieszka Radwanska, the No. 2 seed, her top competition seems pointless given her dominance. Her sister, Venus, has been playing well as the No. 9 seed.
Television coverage of the first week of play will be shared by the Tennis Channel and NBC. The Tennis Channel will begin coverage early in the morning most days, with NBC picking up later in the day. NBC picks up coverage for fourth-round play on May 30, women’s semifinals on June 2, men’s semifinals on June 3, and will carry both the women’s and men’s singles finals on June 4 and June 5, respectively.
Live streaming of every match at the tournament will be available at NBC Sports Live Extra and other coverage via the Tennis Channel. That includes the finals of both singles brackets.
