Defending Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic is the favorite to win in this year’s iteration of The Championships, but he could have a tough draw ahead of him. If Djokovic, who is going for a calendar Grand Slam after winning his first ever French Open earlier in the year, makes it to the semifinals then he could have seven-time Wimbledon winner Roger Federer to contend with.
Wimbledon draw 2016 announced: Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer could face off in semifinals
Djokovic and Federer could meet in the semifinals, while Serena Williams and Agnieszka Radwanska could do the same thing.

He could also potentially wind up facing Milos Raonic in the quarterfinals, which is always a tough out. Andy Murray, the second seed for the tournament, is in the other half of the bracket and could find himself facing Stan Wawrinka, the fourth seed and winner of the 2015 French Open.
Other potentially interesting quarterfinals include a Federer matching up with Kei Nishikori and Murray taking on Richard Gasquet. Djokovic, a three-time Wimbledon champion, will face James Ward in his opening match. Ward isn’t an easy first match by any means (not that easy matches are commonplace in a Grand Slam, of course), but Djokovic has looked on another level than everyone else this year.
On the women’s side, No. 1 seed Serena Williams was drawn in the same half as Agnieszka Radwanska. Garbine Muguruza, who shocked the world when she upset Williams at the French Open earlier this year, is in the other half of the draw alongside Angelique Kerber. Muguruza made it to the finals of Wimbledon in 2015, her first ever Grand Slam final, but she fell to Williams so the story is definitely there.
Notable first-round matchups include a showdown between Radek Stepanek and Nick Kyrgios, what should be a close one between Gael Monfils and Jeremy Chardy and the always-dangerous Fernando Verdasco up against Bernard Tomic. Williams will get a qualifier in her first matchup, while Muguruza will face the tough Camila Giorgi.
The Wimbledon draw was held on Friday morning in London, England. A full bracket will be available via Wimbledon for the men here and the women here later in the day.
