The poor weather returned on Friday at Wimbledon and with it came a huge upset in the men’s bracket and another close one. No. 4 Stan Wawrinka easily took his first set against Juan Martin Del Potro, but he quickly fell behind and lost in four sets to the former world No. 4. Del Potro, the winner of the 2009 US Open, took the match, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(2), 6-3.
2016 Wimbledon results and scores: Stan Wawrinka upset, Novak Djokovic down 2 sets before rain delay
Stan Wawrinka was upset by Juan Martin Del Potro on Friday and Novak Djokovic fell down two sets to love before his match was delayed due to the rain.

Another potential upset is still in the works, though the match was delayed due to the rain. Top seed Novak Djokovic finds himself trailing No. 28-seeded American Sam Querrey two sets to love. Querrey leads Djokovic, 7-6(6), 6-1. Querrey dominated the second set before play was called due to the rain. They will finish up their match on Saturday, weather permitting.
Djokovic has been here before. The last time he was down two sets in a Grand Slam was Wimbledon last year, when he was down to Kevin Anderson in a match that was also delayed due to rain. Djokovic came back to win that one. He has not lost in the third round of a Grand Slam since 2009 and is trying to become just the second man to win five consecutive majors.
Roger Federer and Tomas Berdych were the only other top-seeded men to finish their matches before the delay. Federer took down Daniel Evans in straight sets and Berdych, the No. 10 seed, made it past Benjamin Becker in straight sets as well.
Serena Williams, the top seed who is favored even more in this year’s tournament now that Garbine Muguruza suffered an early elimination, was pushed to three sets against Christina McHale on Friday. But Williams ultimately prevailed, winning 6-7(7), 6-2, 6-4. Her sister, Venus Williams, took down No. 29 Daria Kasatkina, 7-5, 4-6, 10-8.
Play will continue on Saturday and tournament organizers announced they will open play on Sunday as well, despite the day originally being a rest day, due to the rain.
