2016 Wimbledon scores and results: Serena Williams cruises; Jo-Wilfried Tsonga wins 4-hour match

Top seed Serena Williams continued her bid for a 22nd Grand Slam singles title on Sunday, easily dispatching her third-round opponent, Annika Beck. Williams didn’t break a sweat in downing Beck in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0 and she’s looking more and more like she may be unbeatable after losing out on her last three bids for title No. 22.

To potentially make things easier on her, No. 6 seed Roberta Vinci found herself exiting the tournament after losing her third-round match on Sunday, and No. 11 Timea Bacsinszky was in the same situation. No. 27 seed Coco Vandeweghe downed Vinci in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4 while No. 21 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova bested Bacsinszky, 6-3, 6-2.

No. 13 seed Svetlana Kuznetsova was pushed to three sets against No. 18 Sloane Stephens, but ultimately came out on top, 6-7(1), 6-2, 8-6. Finally, No. 24 seed Barbora Strycova was upset at the hands of unseeded Ekaterina Makarova, who won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.

On the men’s side, No. 7 Richard Gasquet outlasted Albert Ramos-Vinolas on the day, winning, 2-6, 7-6(5), 6-2, 6-3. Gasquet was the highest-seeded man playing on the day, but not necessarily the highest profile. That may have been Juan Martin Del Potro, who managed to upset No. 4 Stan Wawrinka in the second round. The 2009 US Open winner fell in four sets to No. 32 Lucas Pouille on Sunday, 6-7(4), 7-6(6), 7-5, 6-1.

No. 15 seed Nick Kyrgios fought a tough four-setter against No. 22 Feliciano Lopez, and after winning the match, 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-4, he’ll be rewarded with a tough match against new favorite Andy Murray in the next round. Murray, the second seed, has never been the favorite in a Grand Slam, but when American Sam Querrey upset Novak Djokovic and eliminated him in the third round on Saturday, Murray became the top seed and the favorite.

A match between No. 12 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and No. 18 John Isner went the absolute distance on Sunday. Isner is no stranger to marathon matches and he had another one on Sunday. But it was Tsonga who ultimately came out on top, breaking Isner with the American serving at 17-17 and then serving for the match. Tsonga won the match, 6-7(3), 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-2, 19-17.
