Novak Djokovic vs. Stan Wawrinka live stream, 2016 US Open: Start time, TV schedule and how to watch men’s final online

Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka have a long history of competition, though it’s the Serb who comes out looking much better, owning a 19-4 record over Wawrinka in head-to-head contests. But it’s not always a simple win for Djokovic, and the two have contested four five-set matches at the Grand Slam level.

Most recently, Djokovic bested Wawrinka on the hard courts in Paris in 2015, and prior to that on the hard courts of Cincinnati that same year. But Wawrinka holds the most significant recent win, besting Djokovic in the finals at the 2015 French Open. Wawrinka won that match in four sets.

They also played in the semifinals of the Australian Open that year, a match won by Djokovic in five sets. Wawrinka matches up well with Djokovic’s range and high energy play, but he himself is inconsistent and cannot consistently break Djokovic.

The two will meet in another Grand Slam final on Sunday, the final day of the US Open. On Saturday, Angelique Kerber was crowned the women’s singles champion when she bested Karolina Pliskova, and after Sunday, one of Djokovic or Wawrinka will have a US Open title.

Djokovic is the defending champion at the US Open, and also won it in 2011. He has won every Grand Slam at least once, including six at the Australian Open, three at Wimbledon and one at Roland Garros. Djokovic is riding high after winning that title at the French Open earlier in the year, as it was the one Grand Slam to elude him.

Wawrinka has won at the Australian Open and the French Open, but has never won a title at the US Open (nor Wimbledon). This will be Wawrinka’s first ever US Open final but pressure doesn’t ever seem to be an issue for him. He recently overcame Juan Martin Del Potro in the semifinals, a tough-fought match.

Sunday’s match is set for 4 p.m., following the conclusion of the women’s doubles final between the team of Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic, and the team of Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova. ESPN will carry television coverage of the match, while WatchESPN will have a live stream online.
