Men’s top seed Andy Murray played his first match at the 2017 French Open on Tuesday, and though he needed four sets, he made it past his opponent, Andrey Kuznetsov, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.

Murray stumbled in the second set, but he came back and dominated the next two sets. Kuznetsov is always a tough draw for the top seeds. Murray has carried an underdog label into Roland Garros despite being that top seed.

That’s because Rafael Nadal is still in the tournament, and many believe he has another big French Open win in the cards. Nadal won his first-round match on Monday.

Stan Wawrinka, the third seed, was also in action on Tuesday and he made short work of Jozef Kovalik, winning in straight sets, 6-2, 76(6), 6-3. Another top-10 seed, Kei Nishikori, won his match in four sets, beating Thanasi Kokkinakis, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4.

The only match to have play suspended on Monday featured ninth seed Alexander Zverev up against Fernando Verdasco. They continued on Tuesday, and Verdasco, a former top-10 player himself, came out on top, winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

On the women’s side, another top-10 player was eliminated in seventh seed Johanna Konta. She fell to Su-Wei Hsieh, who took home a three-set win, 1-6, 7-6(2), 6-4. Top seed Angelique Kerber has already lost, falling on the tournament’s first day.
