Novak Djokovic is king again in Paris.

After losing in the quarter-finals a year ago to Rafael Nadal, Djokovic defeated Casper Ruud in straight sets — 7-6(1), 6-3, 7-5 — to capture his third French Open title.

For Ruud, it was his second-straight loss in the French Open final, as Ruud lost to Nadal a year ago.

Ruud had the upper hand early in the match, holding serve in the first game and then breaking Djokovic to take an early 2-0 lead in the first set. After Ruud held serve to push his advantage to 3-0, Djokovic slowly turned things around, breaking serve in the seventh game to help force the tiebreaker, which Djokovic won.

Djokovic then broke serve in the second game of the second set, en route to his 6-3 win in the second.

Ruud kept things status quo in the third set, as both players held serve until the 11th game, when Djokovic broke serve yet again to take a 6-5 lead in the third. He then served out for the win.

The victory in Paris marks the 23rd Grand Slam title for Djokovic, moving him past Nadal for the most Grand Slam titles in men’s singles history:
