Manchester City were nowhere near their best at home on Wednesday, but thanks to Joe Hart and a little bit of luck, they were able to grab a point in a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund. The visitors were the better side from around the 30 minute mark on, but only managed to turn that dominance into one goal.

Hart made a couple of massive saves at the very end of the first half to keep the score tied up at 0-0 heading into halftime, but there was nothing he could do about BVB's eventual goal. It was created by Jack Rodwell, who committed an awful mistake in the 61st minute by hitting a pass without looking up. That pass ended up in the path of Marco Reus, who surged past the City defense and finished past Hart.

Dortmund had an even better chance in the 75th minute, when Robert Lewandowski missed an absolute sitter. İlkay Gündoğan played an absolutely gorgeous ball to the back post, setting up a tap-in for the Polish international, but he found a way to push his shot wide.

Eventually, Dortmund would be made to pay for that miss. In the 89th minute, City was granted a penalty when Neven Subotić stuck out his arm to block a shot by Sergio Agüero. The penalty was a harsh one, but Subotić had no business sticking out his arm. Mario Balotelli stepped up and tricked Roman Weidenfeller into diving early before converting to steal a point for City.
