Superclasico second half delayed by the enemy of all football matches: An inflatable pig
Julio Cesar Falcioni was sent off for bringing his Boca Juniors team out late from halftime, not that it mattered because an inflatable pig delayed the start. Seriously!
The Superclasico is back and it is as wonderful as ever! After a 17 month break thanks to River Plate’s relegation, Argentina’s two biggest clubs have revived one of the world’s greatest rivalries. That is when inflatable pigs aren’t getting in the way.
Yeah, those inflatable pigs are a menace and they got to the Superclasico on Sunday. The two teams made it out on to the pitch for the second half and were ready to go, but an inflatable pig (his name is Thurman) was still out there and forced the team to wait for Thurman to clear the pitch before they could get things underway.
As Thurman left the field, he was bombarded with questions about the disruption he caused, to which he replied, “oink”.
Best of all, before Thurman delayed the start of the second half, Julio Cesar Falcioni was shown a red card because his Boca Juniors team was late to get back on the pitch for the second half. You know, the second half that couldn’t start because of Thurman.
This is not a joke. An inflatable pig really delayed the start of the second half., although he does not speak so that part was fabricated. His name is Thurman, though, or at least it should be.
