Chivas USA has PR/common sense problems: Calls training camp, “concentration camp”

Lesson No. 1 of PR: Don’t refer to concentration camps ever.

Kelvin Kuo-US PRESSWIRE

There are a few things they don’t cover in PR classes because they assume all of the students have a brain. Those include “don’t be racist” and “don’t lie.” Oh yeah, there is also “don’t reference World War II, Nazis or concentration camps.”

That is just basic common sense, right? Apparently not.

Chivas USA released a story on their latest training, which broke the "NO CONCENTRATION CAMP REFERENCES" rule. (It needs to be capitalized now because, as we learned, it isn't as obvious a no-no as we thought.)

A paragraph after quoting head coach Chelis yelling “A muerte!” or “to death,” which on its own is fine, Chivas referred to their training camp as a “concentration camp.”

PR teachers, take note. You do need to cover the no-no’s of PR and include World Wat II, Nazis and concentration camps. Some people at real professional soccer clubs (Chivas assures us they still are professional) somehow think that is fair game.

The article has since been removed, proving someone at the club has a brain.
