MLS takes very mixed dip into world of art with ‘True Colors’ campaign

Having artists design posters for each team was a great idea, but the execution was often lacking.

The best thing you can probably say about the newest MLS campaign, "True Colors", is that it was ambitious. Sprinkled in the 19-piece collection are some real gems. Daniel Nyari's Sporting KC piece is absolutely gorgeous. The headless Chivas USA entry from Betirri Bengtson makes you think. Mark Jekinson's homage to the Philadelphia Union will surely find its way onto many walls.

Unfortunately, many of them simply showcase some basic Photoshop skills, while others are just bad. Perhaps no poster illustrates why oversight can be a good thing better than the Colorado Rapids poster, which seems to have a rather insulting message layered into it.
