WNBA All-Star mock draft: Who will join Team Parker and Team Delle Donne?

How many Lynx players will Candace Parker pick?

For the first time ever, the WNBA will have two captains select teams from a pool of 20 of the league’s best talents to create the All-Star Game rosters. On Tuesday it was announced that Elena Delle Donne and Candace Parker would be those captains. Maya Moore was one of the leading vote-getters, but she informed the WNBA that she was “unable to perform her captaincy duties at this time,” according to a release. President Lisa Borders chose Parker as her replacement.

There are no restrictions on which players can play for which teams. We could even see Lynx and Sparks rivals team up! This All-Star Game structure is similar to the NBA’s selection process from last season, where LeBron James and Steph Curry were captains.

The field of 20 that will be selected from is as follows:

On Thursday, the final All-Star team rosters will be announced after Delle Donne and Parker draft. The game will take place on Saturday, July 28 in Minnesota at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

Now, we must of course mock draft and speculate who’s going where, which teammates are breaking up, and guess how these two superteams will look.

Here we go:

1. Team Delle Donne: Breanna Stewart, Seattle Storm

If you’ve been paying attention, you know Stewie’s the MVP and clearly the best player this season. She’s made strides on both ends, and her production has turned the Storm into contenders. There’s no more terrifying 1-2 punch than Delle Donne and Stewart slashing from the wing.

2. Team Parker: Maya Moore, Minnesota Lynx

Yup. Rivals, together. Bringing the drama, in Minnesota no less. If Parker wants to win, she knows there’s no greater competitor than Moore, who literally can not stop winning championships at least every other year.

3. Team Delle Donne: Skylar Diggins-Smith, Dallas Wings

Want a point guard who can distribute the ball in every which way? Diggins-Smith is your choice. She’d make the perfect complement to any All-Star team with the ability to score, but not the need. She can walk away with double-digit assists and more.

4. Team Parker: Diana Taurasi, Phoenix Mercury

Ok maybe I selfishly want a Taurasi-Parker-Moore starting lineup because who could ever mess with them? Couldn’t be me.

5. Team Delle Donne: Kristi Toliver, Washington Mystics

Ok it’s teammates time, and EDD’s team could use a scorer on the wing. Kristi Toliver can launch from anywhere, and nobody knows that better than her former teammate Candace Parker. Delle Donne can’t let them link up again.

6. Team Parker: Nneka Ogwumike, Los Angeles Sparks

Yup, teammates time. Parker’s group could use another interior bruiser, and Ogwumike is the perfect fit.

7. Team Delle Donne: Liz Cambage, Dallas Wings

The WNBA’s newest single-game leading scorer dropped 53 points in one afternoon. Best believe nobody’s forgetting that anytime soon.

8. Team Parker: Brittney Griner, Phoenix Mercury

Can’t let Team Delle Donne horde both 6’8 bigs. That’d be a mistake.

9. Team Delle Donne: Sue Bird, Seattle Storm

One of the game’s best-ever distributors, Bird is a steal this low. When Skylar Diggins-Smith comes off the court, Bird can drop behind-the-back passes to whoever.

10. Team Parker: Sylvia Fowles, Minnesota Lynx

It’s wild to think last year’s MVP could drop this low, but that’s how stacked the league is. There’s talent at every position with legends playing out the remainder of their careers.

11. Team Delle Donne: A’ja Wilson, Vegas Aces

The probable Rookie of the Year is alarmingly brilliant. She’s already a top-15 or so talent in the league, and proving nobody can stop her in the triple threat.

12. Team Parker: Chelsea Gray, Los Angeles Sparks

Another teammate for Parker, and one of the WNBA’s fastest-rising players. Gray has really grown into her own in L.A., proving with each buzzer-beater over the LynX that she’s not afraid of any moment. I can’t stop laughing at the thought of Lynx fans cheering on a Chelsea Gray-Candace Parker-Sylvia Fowles-Maya Moore team.

13. Team Delle Donne: Seimone Augustus, Minnesota Lynx

Augustus can score, score, score, and occasionally we’ll see her handles of old. The mid-range savant can put up buckets quick.

14. Team Parker: Angel McCoughtry, Atlanta Dream

Speaking of scorers, welcome the star whose 360 lay-in made headlines for Team USA. One of the flashiest and assertive scorers in the league, this is another steal.

15. Team Delle Donne: Tina Charles, New York Liberty

A scoring, rebounding, physical big. Can’t ever have enough, and Charles has been doing this so well for so long.

16. Team Parker: Chiney Ogwumike, Connecticut

Nneka’s sister, and a terrific defender! Check and check.

17. Team Delle Donne: Jewell Loyd, Seattle Storm

A young, quick guard who can push the pace and drain threes? Yup.

18. Team Parker: DeWanna Bonner, Phoenix Mercury

Bonner is quietly having a fantastic year since returning from the birth of her twins. Another quick slasher, she’ll thrive in the upbeat tempo of the All-Star Game.

19. Team Delle Donne: Allie Quigley, Chicago Sky

Don’t let her leave your sight from deep!

20. Team Parker: Kayla McBride, Vegas Aces

A’ja Wilson’s co-star can put the ball on the ground and GO!
