WrestleMania 30 results: Brock Lesnar beats The Undertaker and the streak is dead

The streak is dead. Brock Lesnar has conquered it and The Undertaker is now 21-1 at WrestleMania. The Superdome is dead silent.

One of the great things about Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak is that it makes the writers’ jobs very, very easy. The reason people want to fight him is because they want to break the streak. The reason he wants to fight anyone is because he wants to keep the streak intact. His opponent says they can end his streak, he disagrees. It always works. It hasn’t gotten old yet.

If wrestling were real, Lesnar would have been the most credible threat to the streak yet. He’s a 265-pound monster with a superhuman combination of strength and speed. He’s an NCAA wrestling champion, a UFC champion and almost made an NFL roster purely based on his athleticism. But no one believed he’d break the streak, because he’s a part-time performer. And when he won, everyone was left speechless.

The finisher-trading started about 10 minutes in, with Lesnar kicking out of a chokeslam and Taker doing the same with an F5. Lesnar also got in an awesome spot where he walked into the Hell’s Gate submission move, then picked up and slammed The Undertaker to break the hold. For some reason, he walked into the same hold again, then slammed Taker to the mat even harder the second time.

In true Taker fashion, he ate and kicked out of another F5 after a long period of submission-trading, leading Lesnar to bust out his best “WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO BEAT THIS GUY?” face. But he got his insane finisher-resisting spot too, kicking out of a Last Ride-Tombstone combo. And then he hit a third F5. And pinned The Undertaker.
