Royal Rumble results: The Usos retain WWE Tag Team Championships against Miz and Damien Mizdow

In which the biggest bad guy gets pinned and the biggest good guy also loses.

The Usos retained their WWE Tag Team Championship at the Royal Rumble, and their win might mark the end of title challenges for the team they defeated, The Miz and Damien Mizdow (neé Sandow).

Because WWE’s tag team division is mostly in shambles, these two teams have been feuding over the titles for a while, since they don’t really have anyone else to wrestle. The good news is that these are four excellent performers, so it’s been a pretty entertaining run. There was a weird storyline involving Miz trying to get Jimmy Uso’s wife Naomi into a music video, and more recently, the Usos won the titles from Miz and Mizdow on Raw.

The story of this match followed the usual formula, which really hasn’t gotten old yet. Miz teased tagging in Mizdow a few times, didn’t do it and got booed. The crowd chanted “we want Mizdow” and, as per usual, did not immediately get Mizdow.

Miz hit the Skull Crushing Finale about 10 minutes into the match, but Jimmy Uso kicked out, then Jey put a splash on Miz shortly afterwards. With Miz in trouble, Mizdow took out Jimmy, then hit his own Skull Crushing Finale on Jey, but it failed to result in a victory again.

Eventually, the Usos hit their splash finisher on Miz and Mizdow couldn’t break up the pin, as the Usos retained their tag titles.
