Jon Stewart will host WWE SummerSlam

The former “Daily Show” host is coming out of retirement to be a part of WWE’s second-biggest event of the year.

On Monday, WWE announced that Jon Stewart will be the special guest host of this coming Sunday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view, which will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Stewart is a long-time, massive wrestling fan and has been very involved with WWE during the past year.

In particular, Stewart has been feuding off and on with current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. He called out Rollins in a special challenge video, got confronted by Rollins on an episode of The Daily Show and even guest-hosted an episode of RAW, where his appearance culminated with him kicking Rollins square in the beanbag.

Longtime viewers of The Daily Show will know that Stewart and his children have been following WWE closely for some time, with Stewart often dropping in wrestling references or jokes about the Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak.

Is it possible Stewart will get involved in the title vs. title match between Rollins and current United States Champion John Cena? We’ll have to wait until Sunday to find out.
