WrestleMania 32 results: Chris Jericho beats AJ Styles in their 4th match together

Are we headed toward a best-of-five rubber match?

AJ Styles and Chris Jericho had yet another excellent match, this time on the biggest stage of them all. After a fun match fulled of counters and counters to the counters, Jericho eventually got the better of Styles, pulling this series to 2-2 apiece.

These two have already wrestled three times, with Styles getting the better of Jericho twice. Jericho eventually got tired of crowds chanting for Styles over him, and grew a bitter jealousy. He refused a rematch at WrestleMania until Styles goaded him into one.

The match stared off as a fairly even affair. By this point, both men know each others’ offense pretty well, leading to some creative counters and reversals. Jericho eventually got the advantage and hit a vertical suplex for a cover, although Styles quickly kicked out. Jericho worked Styles over and controlled the pace of the match, refusing to let Styles tap into his high-speed style.

Styles broke out of Jericho’s control and hit a big dropkick, but Jericho caught him on his next move and rolled him into the Walls of Jericho. Styles made it to the ropes and nailed Jericho with a springboard flip, getting a two-count. Jericho eventually got Styles back into the Walls, but Styles reversed it into the Calf Crusher, his submission finisher. Jericho couldn’t hit the ropes, but he was able to throw some elbows to the back of Styles’ head and break the hold.

Styles tried setting up the Styles Clash, but Jericho wriggled out of it. Styles went for the Phenomenal Forearm, Jericho dodged and hit the Codebreaker. He was too fazed to make the cover, however, and Styles kicked out at two. Jericho set up Styles to steal his own Styles Clash, but Styles was once again able to reverse under his legs and slam Jericho face-first for another two-count.

Styles finally hit the Styles Clash, but Jericho kicked out at the last possible moment. After a series of trading forearms, Jericho went for the Lionsault, but Styles got the knees up. Styles nailed a springboard 450 that got yet another two-count. He went for another Phenomenal Forearm that Jericho reversed into the Codebreaker, which ended the match for good.
