Here is all you need to know about AJ Styles, who is now officially a member of the SmackDown roster thanks to Tuesday’s WWE brand split draft.
SmackDown picks AJ Styles in WWE Draft

The Phenomenal One is better than ever
After a long career in TNA, Styles took his talents to Japan in 2014. As the new leader of the Bullet Club, Styles took New Japan Pro Wrestling by storm, winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship twice (becoming the first American to hold the belt since Brock Lesnar in 2005) and having a string of outstanding battles with the likes of Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada and Shinsuke Nakamura.
Even at the age of 39, Styles remains one of the world’s best talents, winning the Wrestling Observer awards for both Wrestler of the Year and Most Outstanding Wrestler in 2015. He’s well on pace to repeat in those categories after some excellent title matches against Roman Reigns in the spring, and during his current feud with John Cena.
He and his buddies like beating up John Cena
Styles made his WWE debut at this year’s Royal Rumble and entered into a lengthy rivalry with Chris Jericho, but none of that is important right now. Styles’ old buddies from New Japan’s Bullet Club (Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows) have followed him to WWE as The Club. Recently the group has been terrorizing John Cena, with Styles stealing a win at Money in the Bank with the help of his friends. Now they’ve made it their stated mission to beat up Cena every week. Because it’s fun.
Time will tell whether Finn Balor, the original leader of the Bullet Club, gets involved here. But for now, Cena brought some backup in the form of Enzo and Cass, and all six men are set to face off at the upcoming Battleground.
