Here is all you need to know about Nia Jax, who is now officially a member of the RAW roster thanks to Tuesday’s WWE brand split draft.
RAW drafts Nia Jax out of NXT
Nia Jax is not like most girls
That header is a quote from her theme. It’s the angle WWE wants to play up as Nia Jax ascends through the ranks and becomes an unstoppable force in the women’s division. Whereas Bayley’s story was discovering over time that she had the ability to overcome the obstacles set before her and that she was the equal -- or better -- of the wrestlers she looked up to, Nia’s story has been figuring out that simply being bigger than her opponents wasn’t enough. She also had to be smart with more than a hint of ruthlessness if she wanted to leverage that power and size against the best NXT had to offer.
Never mind Jax’s look -- that kind of aggressive and hard-hitting style isn’t like most of what the women’s division possess at either NXT or WWE. Now, though, with Nia around and in the midst of fully realizing her powers, the women’s division might have more of that aggression than it can handle. Like her theme says, she’s “lucky” she’s not like the rest of her competition.
She’s the cousin of The Great One
While it hasn’t been hammered home on television like Roman Reigns’ own relation to The Rock, Nia Jax is also his cousin. Given the push to keep her as a heel, you probably won’t hear much mention of it, either: with any luck, if she ever goes face like Reigns did, she’ll be in a position of popularity where they won’t need to lean on her family to prop her up.
