The first match of WWE Summerslam 2016’s kickoff show was the huge 12-man tag team match, pitting the six tag teams of SmackDown Live against each other in a three-team-on-three team match. The Vaudevillains, Breezango and the Ascension squared off against the Hype Bros, the Usos and American Alpha in a high-energy match won with Jimmy Uso picking up the win for his team.
SummerSlam starts with The Usos winning 12-man SmackDown tag team match
SummerSlam got kicked off with chaotic tag-team action.

The “good guys” side of the Hype Bros, Usos and American Alpha got off to a bit of a hot start before their opponents took control for a spell, with the ever-intense Mojo Rawley from the Hype Bros finding himself caught on the wrong side of the ring for a long time while his opponents worked him over. He was finally able to tag in Jimmy Uso to get some relief, quickly leading to a tag to American Alpha’s Jason Jordan, who hit one belly-to-belly suplex after another to turn the match around.
It was American Alpha who created the win, hitting their Grand Amplitude finisher on the Vaudevillains’ Simon Gotch, but a sneaky tag from Jimmy Uso meant that his follow-up Frog Splash let him pick up the pinfall win. There seemed to be some tension between the Usos and American Alpha after the bell, but everyone was more than happy to celebrate the win.

What we learned: While nothing was on the line tonight in the match, the outcome will almost certainly have major implications on who gets first crack at the SmackDown tag titles once those are formally created. Don’t be surprised if the Usos are in the title picture soon thanks to picking up that final pinfall — and they might be dealing with American Alpha along the way considering how the pinfall was won.
