SummerSlam 2016 results: Enzo & Cass fall to JeriKO

The Canadian team of Jericho and Owens ruined Enzo & Cass’ big night in Brooklyn.

Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens were determined to ruin Enzo and Big Cass’ big night in Brooklyn, and they accomplished just that by beating the Realest Guys in the opening match of SummerSlam.

Enzo & Cass got a heroes’ welcome from the Brooklyn crowd, performing a rendition of “New York, New York.” Then they ran down the team of Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens, hitting their catchphrases before the match got underway.

The Canadians wasted no time going after the Realest Guys, with Jericho taking control of Enzo early on in the match. Enzo managed to tag in Big Cass, who went back-and-forth with Owens for a few minutes. Enzo and Cass used their signature tandem spots, particularly with Cass launching Enzo over the ropes to take out JeriKO.

Jericho got the upper hand again with a big dropkick off the turnbuckle, making frequent tags with Owens to continue beating on Enzo some more.

The highlight of the match was Owens mocking Enzo’s dance on the ring apron.

Finally Enzo made his comeback and gave himself an opening for the hot tag to Cass, but Jericho cut him off. Owens beat him up for a little longer. But when Owens missed his Cannonball run into the corner, Enzo leapt to Cass for the tag. Cass ran wild on the Canadians and set up for the Air Enzo finish, but Owens crotched Enzo on the turnbuckle.

Things broke down in the end with Owens and Cass brawling on the outside. After a few hope spots from Enzo, Owens launched into into a Jericho Codebreaker, giving the Canadians the pin.
