WrestleMania 2017 results: Bayley retains RAW Women’s Championship with tribute to Macho Man

Bayley survived long enough to retain the title thanks to teamwork and aggressive surprise offense against rival Charlotte Flair.

Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair, Nia Jax, and RAW Women’s Champion Bayley have dominated RAW since the brand split last summer, and the four were pitted against each other in an elimination match for the title at WrestleMania 33.

Even though Charlotte makes a point of never getting along with Bayley or Sasha, the three joined forces early to take out Nia Jax, who, if you listen to her entrance song, is not like most girls. (Also if you watch her wrestle ever, because she’s the kind of powerhouse that is found nowhere else in WWE’s women’s divisions.)

It took tandem moves and all three women — yes, stacked on top of each other — to pin Nia Jax and assure that she wouldn’t take the RAW Women’s Championship. Charlotte then left the ring to force friends Bayley and Sasha to fight each other, but made sure to come back in in time to slam Sasha’s face into a turnbuckle before pinning her, leaving the elimination match a one-on-one of Bayley against the woman she took the championship from in the first place.

A top-rope back body drop and then a top rope elbow in tribute to Macho Man Randy Savage allowed Bayley to retain the title against Charlotte, giving Flair only her second loss at a pay-per-view, and likely ending her place in this feud, opening up Bayley for a brand new feud — and a potential new direction for RAW’s women’s division.
