Sports don’t start and end with a referee’s whistle. FirstCuts, a blog dedicated to sports culture, will cover everything outside the lines, from the games to the gear.
In the aftermath of the Michael Vick dogfighting case, the quarterback’s relationship with Nike was put on hold. His lucrative contract was suspended without pay. Products were yanked across the board. If it had a Swoosh and was a Michael Vick signature shoe, it was off the market.

Someone at Dick’s Sporting Goods either A) isn’t playing along or B) made a colossal mistake. The company’s web site is, once again, selling the Nike Zoom Vick IV.
Maybe it’s just desperation on Dick’s part after football season (Who is buying football cleats in January?), but we noticed. The best part is the product description: The Nike® Air Zoom Vick IV D men’s football cleat is inspired by the legendary play of Michael Vick himself. What part of the 23-month sentence would be considered legendary?↵
