Vinnie Iyer breaks down the ongoing action of the Redskins-Seahawks first-round NFC playoff game:
First-half final: Considering how well the Seahawks have played defensively, they have only a 10-point lead. Now the second half turns into Clinton Portis vs. Shaun Alexander. The Redskins can’t win without a big finish from Portis.
Takedown, take two: Linebacker Leroy Hill is the second Seahawk to officially drop Todd Collins. I have a feeling the Redskins’ quarterback will get shaken and stirred enough to have a drink named after him right after the game.
Takedown, take one: Linebacker Julian Peterson is the first Seahawk to officially drop Todd Collins. I have a feeling it will be a long second half for the Redskins’ old quarterback.
Nate’s been great: Nate Burleson, who had a 20-yard punt return in the first quarter, follows his 19-yarder in the second quarter with a 25-yard reception on the ensuing first-down play. That leads to another Seahawks special team star, Josh Brown, nailing a 50-yard field goal. 10-0, Seattle.
Pressure drop: Patrick Kerney and friends are yet to enter the sack column, but it’s clear the Seahawks’ front seven is swarming, doing a great job of disrupting Todd Collins and keeping Clinton Portis from getting out of the gate. Seattle’s offensive line also is handily winning its battle.
Tuck position: It can’t be the NFL playoffs without discussion about the “open hand”. What looked like a forced fumble from Todd Collins courtesy of Seahawks NFC sack leader Patrick Kerney is ruled an incomplete pass, which eventually helps the Redskins get away from the shadow of their own goal line. We’ll see if it costs the ‘Hawks more.↵
