MTSU’s Blackout, Hail Mary Actually Work

Black t-shirts don’t always make you look scary. They certainly didn’t work on Alabama, who sauntered into Georgia’s “blackout” in Athens this past Saturday and left for halftime up 31 points. Then again, maybe we’ve all just been waiting for the real owners of the blackout, the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee State, to show us blackout voodoo done properly.↵

↵Down 13-7 with seconds left on the clock, MTSU QB Joe Craddock dropped back, evaded a rusher, and then bombed a pass into the waiting hands of WR Malcolm Beyah. Warning: the sheer awesome of this play snapped Howard Schnellenberger’s suspenders when it happened. If it did that, we cannot vouch for what it may or may not do to your computer or personal support garments. Good luck.↵

↵You just don’t come into Floyd Stadium and expect to win after three quarters of football. The extra point went in, the Blue Raiders won 14-13, and please drive safely and thank you for watching Blue Raider football. ↵↵The grand irony in this is that after beating Maryland the Blue Raiders came a Hail Mary short of beating Kentucky on a nearly identical play, meaning your cardiologist’s favorite team just became MTSU, since watching many more games like this is bound to put you in their expensive and capable hands by the end of the season. Karma, it’s what’s for breakfast this morning in Murfreesboro.↵
