Badgers to Lack Pep Thanks to Band’s Hazing

↵The Sporting Blog’s own Road to Game Day brothers will be in Madison for Wisconsin-Ohio State this evening. The Badgers marching band, however, will not be joining them. The university suspended the band Friday because of serious hazing allegations, reports the Wisconsin State Journal (via CSTB). What sort of serious hazing allegations, you ask?↵↵⇥Leckrone would not say specifically what the allegations were or when the incidents occurred but said they were alcohol related and involved “inappropriate sexual behavior.”↵↵Of course. This isn’t new for the Wisconsin band: back in 2006, the student newspaper reported a university chancellor had received multiple complaints of “highly sexualized banter.” From the Badger Herald story in October ‘06:↵↵⇥“We had dancing and disrobing taking place that made some people feel not only uncomfortable but also unsafe,” [assistant to the chancellor Casey] Nagy said. ... In addition to inappropriate dancing from semi-nude band members, Nagy said one band member had his head shaved in an apparent hazing incident. The “clear impression,” he said, was that the individual would have preferred to keep his hair.↵↵The “clear impression” I get is that Badger band members need to take a cold shower or 20.↵
