Maryland-VA Tech vs. TCU-Utah: What You Should Watch Tonight

↵
↵Tonight you have not one, but two college football games on the television. You’re obviously wracked with doubt on which game to devote your attention to, since flipping back and forth will tick off your significant other at the least and at the worst give you a low-grade epileptic fit. Helpfully, we at The Sporting Blog are here to give you the tools to succeed as a sports fan, and thus give you the guide to deciding which game to watch tonight between Maryland/Virginia Tech and TCU/Utah.
↵↵Do you like crappy weather football? It snowed like mad yesterday in Salt Lake. The game time temperature will be in the 30s. Meanwhile, a nice day in the 70s today in Blacksburg will dip down into the low 40s, where you can mostly sort of kinda still feel your fingers. If you like the football in the crappy weather with the fumbles and such, please see TCU at Utah.↵

↵

↵Do you like your coaches to come by the pound? Well, you'll be watching Maryland, obviously, as they don't come in burlier sizes than the Fridge. There's other reasons to watch Maryland, though. You have no idea what will happen on any given day or night. They could win 26-0, as they did against Wake, or they could lose 31-0, as they did to Virginia. If you want surprise, watch them, because a team as inconsistent as they have been week-to-week is capable of anything.↵

↵↵Do you like games that really, really matter? Maryland and Virginia Tech matters, yes. If MD wins, they’re alone atop the Atlantic Division with the advantage in the race for the ACC championship. If Tech loses, they’re all but out of it. Ho-hum. If you are concerned about the BCS, however, the TCU/Utah game matters, for two reasons. First, TCU winning bolsters Oklahoma’s strength of schedule, and thus matters in any Sooner claims on a national title bid. Second, the #9 and #11 ranked teams in the nation are playing in Salt Lake, and the winner stands a good change of barging into the BCS rotation. The ACC game matters, but the Mountain West game really, really matters.↵

↵↵DO YOU LIKE METALLICA? Then you’ll be watching Virginia Tech, or at least catching the intro:↵

↵↵Do you like quarterbacks? Then you’ll most certainly be watching the game in Utah. Maryland will start Chris Turner, who alternates good games with erratically bad ones, and Virginia Tech will start third-stringer Cory Holt, who spent the week practicing at wide receiver before injury made him the likely starter tonight. Utah’s Brian Johnson is outstanding, as is TCU’s Andy Dalton. Go west for the battle of two quarterbacks clicking at the right time in the season; for defense, Blacksburg will be the better option.↵
