The Word of the Day Is ‘Misremember’

By Chris Mottram
Because we work in an active sports newsroom (if you will), every TV in the place has the Clemens hearing on right now. So, whether we like it or not (and we don’t), we’re stuck listening to it.

The most interesting development: Clemens’ repeated use of the word “misremember.” He used it five times in about a 10 minute span during the start of the hearing, you know, as opposed to saying “that conversation didn’t happen.” And -- contrary to popular belief within this room -- it is actually a word:
mis·re·mem·ber –verb (used with object), verb (used without object)
1. to remember incorrectly.
2. to fail to remember; forget.
And no, unfortunately, Clemens did not plead da fif, so the hearing will go on. If you’re stuck at work and are just dying to follow the excitement, check out our liveblog of the Congressional hearing (not sure those words have ever been typed before).↵
