Do you hate paramedics? Those pesky people always running around and being annoying by helping the sick, old, and grievously injured? Then we’ve got a soccer player for you: Cameroon’s own Andre Bikey.
Cameroon Soccer Player Is Not an Ideal Patient
The African cup is known for its exciting, creative play, but I don’t think this is what they had in mind. The medic in question, Samuel Ashia of Ghana, has a perfectly reasonable take on the situation.
I got angry at this point so people were surprised I didn’t retaliate, but that was because of the work I was doing.
”Bikey’s bigger and taller than me - he could beat me up (if he wanted to) -- but I’m there to do my job, not to fight.
Good that the medics are clear on the whole job description. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in a car accident and then been beaten senseless by paramedics who mistakenly believe their job involves beating people up on the side of the road. Then again, that’s making your own business as a medic, so it might make some sense after all.
