Floyd at Wrestlemania: ‘Unbelievably Awesome’

I heard the news about Floyd Mayweather’s WWE debut in real time –- my man Franchise, a one-man pro wrestling omnifactotum, also the proprietor of the all-fight-sports website, jarrypark.com -- was watching it live on Sunday night and sent me a message as soon as Floyd hopped up into the ring. He also explained to me then that this probably meant that Floyd would be mixing it up at Wrestlemania, news that was confirmed last night.
My first and really only thought about this was that it’s unbelievably awesome, and any of you who disagree with me might want to check out the video below and just bask in its awesomeness before you start hatin’.
The sight of the 5’7†(they list him at 5’8â€, but trust me, I’ve stood right next to the man ... he might even be 5’6â€), 150-pounds-wet Money May puffing up his chest at the 7-foot man beast that is The Big Show is some high-larious cash money f’reals:

Ever since it went down, however -- and now with the announcement last night on RAW that Floyd and Big Show are indeed going to tangle at WM24 (and people, what the HAY-ELL is that gonna look like?) -- I’ve been getting a lot of hardcore anti-Floyd messages from boxing folk, and I must say I just don’t understand the animosity.
I’ve written before that the overall dislike of Floyd amongst boxing fans strikes me as very similar to the attitude towards another great and flamboyant loudmouth of the past, and it seems to me that this WWE gambit is just going to provoke more of the same nonsense.
But look, a lot of the boxing fraternity is narrow-minded and tradition-obsessed. Not to mention just generally disdainful of pro wrestling on the whole, which is where me and the boxing fraternity part ways.
I would like to make this point, however, to all the teeth-sucking cigar-chompers and general would-be Floyd haters out there: A certain Mr. Oscar DLH has made it patently clear that he’s fighting his farewell bout in December of this year. However you may feel about the Golden Boy, one has no choice but to acknowledge that his retirement will leave boxing without an active crossover superstar. And as far as I see it, Mr. Dancing with the Stars, NBA All-Stars, WWE oh-Big-Show-now-you-seeing-stars, Floyd Cash Money is grooming himself to step into the void. And what that’s going to do? Put money in all of our pockets. Seriously, we should be thanking the man, everyone of us who has anything to do with boxing in the least.↵
