- The NFL Combine:
I don’t know about you, but watching half-naked guys do random tests really isn’t my thing, but for many a sports nerd it’s hard to look away from the NFL Combine. From the Bod Pod to the 40 yard dash, the NFL Network has just about every angle covered this Saturday and Sunday. Experts Mike Mayock and Charles Davis will be your main analysts and expect appearances by Steve Mariucci and Jamie Dukes over the weekend as well.
If you don’t get the NFL Network you might miss out on something exciting like Rich Eisen pulling a hamstring trying to run the 40 last year:
What Your Television Is Doing This Weekend
- Bracket Buster Weekend:
One of the most exciting events of the college basketball season leading up to March is going down this weekend. ESPN’s Bracket Buster Weekend is one of the better programming ideas the network has come up with (not saying much, I realize) and this weekend should be just as good as years past.
Twenty-eight of the top mid-majors in the country are in action over the weekend with arguably the best game coming at 5pm on Saturday as #18 Drake takes on #8 Butler. Add to this set of games to the matchup of #1 Memphis versus #2 Tennessee on Saturday night (ESPN, 9pm), and it sets up for a pretty awesome two days.
- NBA:
The trade deadline looked as if it was going to be uneventful, until the Cavs decided to change their team entirely. In one of the oddest and most complex deals ever, a total of 11 players and a draft pick found new teams. The new look Cavaliers host the Wizards tonight on ESPN (8pm), and Lebron should have an extra hop in his step with Ben Wallace, Wally Sczerbiak, Delonte West and Joe Smith on his sideline.
Of course, none of their new players will be able to go tonight, which will leave the Cavs with seven players. Total. Now that’s a reason to watch.
After the Washington-Cavs game, you get the best matchup of the weekend as Boston heads to Phoenix. Sunday, the Pistons will make that same trip to play the Suns (ABC, 2:30pm) and late night the revamped Bulls will be in Houston (ESPN, 8pm)
- Other Options:
NASCAR’s Auto Club 500 (FOX, Sunday 3:30pm), PGA Tour Matchplay (NBC, Saturday/Sunday 2pm), Snowboarding (CBS, Sunday 1pm), Boxing: Klitschko-Ibragimov (HBO, Saturday 9:30).↵
