Sports don’t start and end with a referee’s whistle. FirstCuts, a blog dedicated to sports culture, will cover everything outside the lines, from games to gear.
With March Madness in full swing, it is only right that we honor one of the greatest coaches of all time, Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski. His long tenure at Duke has produced some of the most amazing teams and players in the history of college basketball.

To celebrate his 800th win, Nike’s Innovation Kitchen created a 1 of 1 Nike Air Force 1 dedicated to Coach K’s life and career. The “Coach K 800” Nike Air Force 1 iK features several design cues that tie back to Coach K including the wool inspired by the jacket’s worn at Coach K’s alma matter West Point, “Coach” and “K” on the insoles, and of course “DUKE” emblazoned on the back.
Only one pair of “Coach K 800” Nike Air Force 1 was created and it sits inside the Duke trophy case at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
