Bill Raftery Doodles Bill Raftery Phrases For Fun

By Spencer Hall
Who knows what lurks in the labyrinthine mind of basketball color man Bill Raftery? You do, thanks to some intrepid work by your reporter at the SEC Championship.
After a tornado gave the Georgia Dome a rude jostling, authorities announced that we should all stay put, then leave but not leave the building, and then finally suggested we leave in 15 minutes before the hounds were released. Packing up, the reporter next to us said, “Hey, do you want this paper that Bill Raftery was drawing on? It’s...um...interesting.”
And then he gave us this paper:

This only confirms what you knew all along: that yes, Bill Raftery writes down his own catchphrases during games he’s not even covering. He’s Raftery 24/7: screaming “with a kiss!” as bugs hit his windshield on the highway, “Deployment!” as he puts half and half in his coffee, and “JAMBALAYA!” when he gets his new tags from the DMV. ↵
