Sports don’t start and end with a referee’s whistle. FirstCuts, a blog dedicated to sports culture, will cover everything outside the lines, from games to gear.
Ah yes, nothing better than using a holiday (or whatever you consider St. Patrick’s Day) to bump up that revenue by cranking out some alternate jerseys. Although that might not be entirely true, as only the Celtics St. Patty’s day jerz is available at the NBA Store as of this morning. So maybe these teams simply wanted to feel like the Celtics for an evening. And obviously, the Knicks will take any and all opportunities to go incognito.
Something tells me none of the gentlemen in these photos are Irish:

They’re all quite ugly (even the Celtics, who made their normal colors unattractive with the addition of the gold trim), but the Knicks uni has to be the worst. Either commit to the green -- as the Raptors and Bulls did -- or don’t. The orange and green combo is horrible.
Spring Training went green as well, with the Twins, Dodgers, White Sox, Mariners, Tigers and Phillies all wearing either green hats, jerseys, or both. More on those over at Uni Watch.
