I don’t venture into the land of NBA hoops often (especially not in the middle of March), but apparently this game last night between the Celtics and Rockets was somewhat meaningful. So I checked some of it out.
Being the NBA hater I am, I found the game to be less interesting than the NIT on ESPN, so I didn’t stick to TNT’s coverage for long. But I did happen to catch part of their halftime show. I guess I hung around just to see what would come out of Barkley’s mouth, and I was rewarded with this gem:
Barkley Suggests Sonics Should Inflict Bodily Harm
Aside from the typical Barkley hilarity (specifically, his lesson in mathematics: “We round up in this country”), I found it interesting that he suggested the Sonics, who apparently “quit like dogs,” should have taken out the Denver players. “If a team is putting up threes, up 50 points, you gotta take ‘em out.”
As I said, I’m not an NBA guy, so I don’t know what the rule is here. In baseball, yeah, you “gotta take ‘em out” if the other team is showing you up, but what about in the NBA? And how do you take someone out in basketball? Sweep kick their legs out from under them or something?↵
