According to the always accurate Wikipedia, the No. 14 seed has beaten the No. 3 seed 15 times in the Tourney history. This afternoon, 14-3 upset number 16 could be going down in the very first game of the Tournament.
At the half in D.C., Georgia is up on Xavier 35-26. As Vinnie and Littmann over at the game’s live blog have pointed out, the Bulldogs really outplayed Xavier in the first-half, and got plenty of easy baskets down low, including two big throwdowns from Jeremy Price:

A loss by Xavier would indeed be an earlier bracket buster. Most brackets I’ve seen have them at least in the Sweet 16, with some (I’m looking in Littmann’s general direction), picking them to beat Duke and go to the Elite Eight.
Who is this Georgia team and what have they done with the squad that won four regular season SEC games?
Elsewhere: Almost halftime in the Michigan State-Temple game with MSU up 11 in a game that was neck-and-neck early. And Kansas is killing Portland State by 23 at the half.
UPDATE: And, of course, the upset wasn’t too be. Georgia seemed to just run outta gas in the second-half, and ultimately lost 73-61. Your bracket is safe, so far. Also, Kansas and Michigan State rolled. ↵
